Ford Focus 1.8 TDCI 115 Stage 1 Remap – 145 BHP 388Nm

Our Stage 1 remap for the Ford Focus 1.8 TDCI 115 gives 145BHP and a torque increase to 388Nm. We’ve developed this remap not only to give optimal performance, but also to remain within the limits of the stock hardware of your vehicle so you don’t need to worry about your clutch or your dual mass flywheel. Power delivery will be smooth and constant through the entire rpm range and will make overtaking much easier.

Some of the 1.8 TDCI engines come fitted with a DPF system depending on the year, we’ve developed this remap to run clean and smoke free by maintaining higher AFR like the factory setup, as such there’s no increased risk of the particle filter clogging when running our Stage 1 remap.

Most customers also see an economy gain during normal driving conditions.

Ford Focus 1.8 TDCI 115 Stage 2 Remap – 160 BHP

The Stage 2 remap requires an uprated intercooler and a performance free flowing exhaust system. Peak BHP will top out at 160 and mid range torque will come to a nice 400Nm – we can tailor this to your clutch if required.

We recommend fitting the black diamond Kevlartek Stage 2 clutch for this level of tune, available through HDI Tuning. On some vehicles you might need to replace the DMF with a new part, or swap it for a solid flywheel. The torque figure is fairly reasonable so it should not cause DMF problems, a worn DMF should be replaced or converted to a solid flywheel.

Programming Methods – OBD programming or Bench Programming

There are three variants of the SID202/SID204/SID206 ECU. On Ford vehicles the ECU can be programmed over OBD by most tools like Kess V2. It’s also an option to remove the ECU and program on the bench over BDM (open ECU).

Programming via OBD SID206 with Kess V2

  • Obtain a suitable programming tool; we recommend to use Dimsport MyGenius, you can also use Kess V2.
  • Install the tool to a reliable laptop.
  • Connect to the OBD port of your car, make sure you have backup chargers to the vehicle battery and the laptop battery.
  • ID the ECU and then take a read of the ECUs flash memory.
  • Email the software to remap@hdi-tuning.co.uk along with a description of the remap you require.
  • Send payment through our webshop.
  • We will modify the software and send back to you. This normally takes less than 2 to 3 hours during working days.
  • Using the same tool, ID then write to the ECU. This will overwrite the ECUs flash memory, it’s important not to interrupt the process. If you encounter any problems we can fix the ECU for you so there’s absolutely nothing to worry about.
  • Let your engine warm up and then take the car for a spin, enjoy the extra power!

Programming via BDM SID206

The SID206 can be programmed direct to the ECU board through the BDM port. Obtain a suitable programming tool, we recommend Kess KTAG.

  • Order a suitable tool such as Kess KTAG or BDM100.
  • Install the tool to a reliable laptop.
  • The ECU must be removed from the vehicle, and then the tabs on the lid can be carefully pried open and the casing of the ECU removed.
  • Using a pogo spring probe connect to the ECU board, power the ECU to the ECU connector plugs as described by your programming tool.
  • ID the ECU and then take a read of the ECUs memories for a backup (please save separately, and not as a combined file). For EDC16C3 the performance maps are in the 1MB flash. For EDC16C34 the performance maps are stored in the 2MB flash memory.
  • Send payment through our webshop.
  • We will modify the software and send back to you. This normally takes less than 2 to 3 hours during working days.
  • Using the same tool, ID then write to the ECU. This will overwrite the ECUs memory, it’s important not to interrupt the process. If you encounter any problems we can fix the ECU for you so there’s absolutely nothing to worry about (You can always repair an ECU if you take a full BDM backup of all memories).
  • Straighten the lid on the ECU and seal with a little silicone.
  • Refit the ECU and start the engine.
  • Let your engine warm up and then take the car for a spin, enjoy the extra power!
