Yes, we know it’s not so fun, but it’s important to read the terms and conditions page so please read all of this before using our services. We tried to keep it as short as possible so it’s easy to read through it all.
Returns
Our refund and returns policy for physical products lasts 14 days. If 14 days have passed since your purchase, we can’t offer you a full refund or exchange.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging.
To complete your return, we require a receipt or proof of purchase. DO NOT send any items until you have confirmed the return address.
Several types of goods are exempt from being returned. Any custom made products, or digital software products cannot be returned and are not applicable for a refund.
Non Returnable items:
- Customised online remap service and postal remap service– as soon as we have produced your remap the purchase cannot be refunded as customised work has been carried out to order.
- Downloadable software products – any automated downloads are not refundable as digital delivery is automated and instant.
- If an unlocked ECU is ordered especially for your order (e.g. the item was not in stock and you requested us to get an ECU for you) then you cannot return or cancel the order under any circumstances.
- Used items – you cannot return parts if they have been fitted for any period of time.
- Custom ordered products – such as Turbo chargers – once you place an order and the work is carried out you cannot cancel or return a turbo charger. Turbos are made to order and refurbished / hybridised to the specification required by the customer.
Exchanges
We only replace items if they are defective or damaged during transit. If you need to exchange it for the same item, send us an email at remap@hdi-tuning.co.uk.
2 Year Warranty on unlocked ECUS
It’s very rare that an ECU will go wrong, of course there’s always that small possibility of failure and just no knowing when an electronic component could fail. This is why we offer a warranty to give peace of mind that we will stand by our products.
If the ECU develops a fault within 2 years and we can confirm the ECU is faulty we will happily send you a replacement. It’s important to read the following terms and conditions before making an order. We want to keep the process fair to you the customer whilst avoiding the potential for abuse of our warranty scheme.
Terms and conditions for ECU warranty
The 2 year warranty is valid from the date of purchase only to the original purchaser of the ECU. You will be required to prove you are the original buyer by means of a receipt or ID if your contact details do not match the original order.
A faulty ECU must be returned to us for testing. Shipping is at the expense of the customer.
We will require a report from a professional mechanic or a diagnostics print out showing any faults to confirm the ECU is indeed faulty. Why do we need this: It’s important to be sure if an ECU is really faulty to save wasted time for you and also us. It’s common for wiring faults or sensor faults to be mistaken for ECU faults.
We are not liable for any costs incurred to the customer either directly or indirectly as a result of a a faulty product. This includes fitment and diagnostics costs and also any potential costs for engine or electronics damage to the vehicle.
ECUs should always be fitted by a qualified mechanic to avoid the potential for problems.
What is not covered under our warranty?
ECUs that have clear signs of water damage or corrosion caused by you the customer will not be covered under our warranty. It is essential to fix any problems that can result in water, oil, or coolant finding it’s way to the ECU or the wiring connector.
The costs of return shipping for us to test an ECU must be covered by the customer.
Shipping costs for a replacement unit will be paid for by HDI Tuning using a standard economy shipping service. This only applies to countries in the main EU zone. If you are located outside of the EU zone then you must cover the costs of shipping if we send a replacement unit.
If you would like express shipping on a replacement part this will be at your own expense, we will take payment before sending.
If a replacement unit is sent and is damaged immedietely upon fitment by the customer, this would indicate an electronic fault with your vehicle (for example: an over charging alternator can cause a voltage spike and damage an ECU) and as such the warranty will be voided.
Important information:
An Immobiliser delete will remove the vehicles security system and as such there is a risk that it can be stolen.
Immobiliser delete is not legal in all countries, it is the responsibility of the buyer to check this before ordering.
We recommend that you contact your insurer to check that the vehicle is still covered if an unlocked ECU is fitted.
Returns:
Faulty ECU?
Did we send you an ECU that does not work? Don’t worry, we will give you a full refund including the initial shipping costs. The buyer is responsible for return shipping costs when sending the ECU back to HDI Tuning.
Returns must be initiated within 30 days of purchase.
Wrong item ordered unlocked ECU?
If you order the wrong ECU, or an item you do not need you can return within 14 days but you will incur a testing and restocking fee of £95.
Why do we charge this fee? We charge this fee as our ECUs are a custom made product and we need to cover business costs. We cannot resell them without full bench testing and reprogramming.
Some customers will buy an unlocked ECU to experiment via a quick diagnostics test to see if they can remove a permanent fault. Sometimes it becomes obvious that the ECU was not causing the fault (if the fault continues after replacing the ECU). As the item has now been used and is fully functional it is not applicable for a full refund.
What does the £95 ECU restocking fee cover:
-We must test and reset an ECU when it is returned to us to ensure that it us undamaged and that we can sell it to another customer.
-We need to cover staff costs, packaging and postage charges.
-Sometimes ECUs will be scrapped if damaged by the customer.
-By ordering through our webshop you confirm that you accept these terms.
Return shipping costs:
The buyer must cover return shipping costs to HDI Tuning.
Shipping costs from the original purchase are not refundable if an incorrect item is ordered.
