Remap your ECU from home using the Dimsport MyGenius personal programming tool

How to re-program your ECU from home using your own tuning equipment
To use the online remap service you need to get a read of your ECU, and then send the data over to us via email.
Send the standard ECU data file to remap@hdi-tuning.co.uk and we will make you a custom remap from your original ECU software. Make sure you send payment over at the same time, we won’t send the remap back until this has been received.
When your remapped software has been prepared it will be emailed back to you and you can then upload it using the same tool which you used to read the data. The typical turn around time is less than a few hours for our tuning file service.
It’s important that your vehicle is running in tip top condition before you go ahead with a remap, a remap can only improve power if all components are functioning as they should. Of course we can remove faults created by components such as a blocked DPF, broken EGR, or faulty intake throttle flaps and many more.
Which tool do I need to read/write my ECU?
We strongly advise to use the Dimsport MyGenius personal OBD programming device thanks to its ease of use and reliability, however there are also some cheaper alternatives listed below.
There are a few different types of ECUs fitted to the HDI engines, we’ll help you find which model you have based on the engine and the power level. To be certain, take a look at the vehicle specific page for your car, or check under the bonnet and find the ECU.

PCM Tuner is cheap, but most of our customers had problems with it so we’re no longer linking to this tool. It makes a lot more sense to purchase the Dimsport MyGenius OBD programming tool if your ECU type is supported as it’s a safe and genuine reliable programming tool, however if you would like a cheaper option and in some cases don’t mind to open up the ECU, have a look at the tables below.
If you’re planning to do more than one car then we can set you up with a Bitbox Slave dongle, this will have access to all of the HDI Tuning protocols and can be used with a J2534 Passthrough device such as Scanmatik Pro 2.

Bosch EDC15C2 injection system
We can offer a complete online remapping service for any vehicle fitted with the 2.0 or 2.2 HDI engine if it is fitted with the Bosch EDC15C2 control system. – For this you need an MPPS tool.
The process is simple, first you connect to your vehicle through the diagnostic port, you then send us the original ECU data along with payment for the service you require. Once we have received this from you, we then proceed to make you a custom remap and we will email it back to you as soon as it is ready.
Using the same equipment you can then program your vehicles ECU and your vehicle is then remapped.

Bosch EDC16 injection system
We can also offer an online remapping service for the 1.4 and 1.6 HDI engines produced until the end of 2009. These engines are paired with a Bosch EDC16 ECU. There are two methods to program these ECUS:
Bench programming can be carried out using BDM100 or Kess KTAG direct to the BDM port. BDM programming can create a backup of not only the flash memory (maps and engine software), but also a backup of the immobiliser, the ECU configuration, and the injector codes.
An easier method of programming is using Kess V2 over the OBD port in the vehicle. As long as the vehicles battery and the laptop are connected to chargers and the process is not interrupted, this can be a reliable process. For Ford EDC16 from 2008 to 2010 it is not possible to program over OBD.

Bosch EDC17C10 EDC17C60 EDC17C70 Injection systems
The later 1.6 HDI engines use a much more complex ECU system with the infineon tricore ‘tuning protected’ processor. This basically means that you can’t program through the OBD port, unless you have a genuine programming tool such as Dimsport MyGenius.
Most equipment can program this ECU in bench mode so it’s just a case of opening up the ECU, and then attaching the boot pin and the other wires to the main ECU connector.
Program with an open ECU using Kess KTAG.
These ECUs are really hard to open, and there’s a high risk of damage, so a much safer method is to program using a tool which has a bench loader and this does not require the ECU to be opened. PCM Flash or Bitbox MEDC17x module can program on the bench by connecting only 7 wires it’s very simple and very safe to do.
The DCM 3.4 can be programmed through the diagnostics port with most authentic equipment. The Kess V2 is a good tool to do use for this ECU model.
Delphi DCM 3.5
The DCM 3.5 can be programmed through the diagnostics port with most authentic equipment, and it can also be read on the bench in boot mode.
Program over OBD port using Kess V2 – this is the easiest method and does not require disassembly of the ECU.
Open the ECU and program in bench mode using Kess KTAG. This option gives a full backup of the EEPROM and the full flash.
Delphi DCM6.1 Delphi DCM6.2
The best option to program the later Delphi systems is using a genuine programming tool such as Dimsport MyGenius. This tool can safely and reliably program the ECU over the OBD port with no need to dismantle the ECU and no risk.
