If you’re planning to tune your Peugeot 306 2.0 HDI 90 then you’re in the right place. HDI Tuning Ltd started off over 15 years ago whilst developing remaps for the 2.0 HDI 90 engine. Due to excellent results from our remaps we quickly grew in to the go to company for HDI tuning and customised remaps.

Peugeot 306 2.0 HDI 90 Stage 1 remap (125 BHP | 275 Nm)

The Stage 1 remap for the Peugeot 306 2.0 HDI was designed for optimum performance and reliability on a standard vehicle with original components. Power is increased to 125 BHP which gives great driveability and safer overtaking. With 275Nm of torque you’ll feel the power kicking in much sooner and continuing until after 4000 RPM. As well as lots more useable power, you can expect to see economy gains of 3-5 MPG on average.

Peugeot 306 2.0 HDI 90 Stage 1 + Remap (130 BHP | 300 Nm)

This remap is designed to get the most out of your Peugeot 306 2.0 HDI 90 engine with minimum modifications required. To run the 125 BHP remap you’ll need a straight through exhaust system as a bare minimum. The 8V HDI really benefits from the extra exhaust flow and without exhaust work the engine can build high exhaust manifold pressure (EMP) at higher engine speeds. For optimal results, fit a complete free flowing exhaust system of 2.5″ bore.

The full power stage 1+ remap will give your Peugeot 306 2.0 HDI 90 300Nm and a peak horse power of 130 BHP. This will really transform your car and make it a pleasure to drive. All remaps have been proven through years of testing and are perfectly safe for your engine to run. You can expect to see economy gains of 3-5 MPG on average. It’s important that your vehicle is properly maintained with regular oil changes and a clean fuel filter.

Peugeot 306 2.0 HDI 90 Stage 2 Remap (155 BHP | 368 Nm)

The 2.0 HDI 90 does not come fitted with an intercooler. The first step to running a stage 2 remap is to fit a large front mounted intercooler with 57mm hoses. For this, bigger is better and you will not notice any significant lag from fitting a larger cooler but you will benefit from the cooler denser charge. Make sure the pipe work is efficiently routed and with good sturdy braided silicone hoses.

Boost pressure must be increased to 20 psi to give adequate air mass, don’t go too high or EMP will increase drastically and can cause problems with the valve lifters. 20 psi has been tested to be the optimum boost setting, sometimes more can give less power as you leave the efficiency range of the compressor. Fit a boost gauge and a ball and spring style boost controller to regulate boost.

To help with EMP the exhaust needs to be a straight through system, 2.5 inch is best.

Most vehicles will require a new clutch or an upgraded Kevlar clutch to handle the extra torque, with 360Nm there will really be a big difference in power and torque and how it’s delivered.

For lower mileage vehicles we can push for a little more power around 160 BHP with the Stage 2+, however this does require a good condition fuel pump or a fuel pump upgrade to the R70 pump, plus a 1.6 HDI rail pressure sensor (part number 1920GW).

Price:

Stage 3 (180 BHP | 420 Nm)

The stage 3 remap requires all of the Stage 2 upgrades, and also a turbo upgrade. The fuel pump must be upgraded to the R70 pump from a 2.2 HDI or a 3.0 BMW 530D. It’s important to use a good low mileage pump and not one that has been left standing without fuel in as the pump can corrode inside and cease, thus damaging the seals once it’s turned.

The fuel pressure sensor 1920GW must be fitted as detailed below.

The turbo upgrade would ideally use a 52mm compressor with a VNT turbo, although a waste-gated turbo is also acceptable and easier to regulate with a mechanical boost controller. For VNT turbos the turbo can be controlled using a product called DigiBooster S. This uses electronic PID control to regulate boost with selectable strategies, a VNT turbo cannot be effectively controlled using only a ball and spring type mechanical boost controller.

A ceramic paddle clutch is required to hold the 420Nm of torque.

1800 Bar fuel pressure sensor upgrade Part 1920GW

For vehicles running the upgraded R70 fuel pump wishing to push for a little extra top end power we can increase fuel pressure slightly. The stock sensor can only go to 1500 Bar so an upgraded sensor is required with part number 1920GW. Pins 1&2 must be swapped in the wiring loom in order to start the engine and a new calibration must be added via a remap. Injector calibrations in the stock ECU software run only until 1400 Bar, we will extend using our custom calibrations to 1800 bar. We recommend to run a max of 1600 Bar even with the uprated sensor, otherwise the extra work load on the fuel pump is too much. Price:

  • £50 extra on top of remap cost – included with stage 3.

Programming Methods – OBD2

The EDC15C2 is an old ECU type and as such it’s covered by nearly all tools on the market. The best and most reliable tools to use are Kess V2 and MPPS. These tools can program directly over OBD without needing to remove the ECU. If you’re looking for an on the go flasher which can store up to 10 maps and be used when ever you choose, then we recommend using Dimsport MyGenius.

Recommended programming method:

Program over OBD using the Dimsport MyGenius standalone tool

The Dimsport MyGenius tool is the safest, easiest and most reliable way to program your ECU from home. Simply connect to the OBD port and let the tool do the work, no need to remove your ECU or bench program for most ECU types. For more information have a read here

The read and write processes both take around 1 minute for this ECU type.

How to use the online remapping service:

  • Obtain a suitable programming tool.
  • Install the tool to a reliable laptop.
  • Connect to the OBD port of your car, make sure you have backup chargers to the vehicle battery and the laptop battery.
  • ID the ECU and then take a read of the ECUs flash memory.
  • Email the software to remap@hdi-tuning.co.uk along with a description of the remap you require.
  • Send payment through our webshop.
  • We will modify the software and send back to you. This normally takes less than 2 to 3 hours during work days.
  • Using the same tool, ID then write to the ECU. This will overwrite the ECUs flash memory, it’s important not to interrupt the process. If you encounter any problems we can fix the ECU for you so there’s absolutely nothing to worry about.
  • Let your engine warm up and then take the car for a spin, enjoy the extra power!
