1.6 dCi 120/130 BiTurbo 2016 onwards Bosch EDC17C84 EU6 Renault Trafic

157 BHP

Stage 1 Power

358 Nm

Stage 1 Torque

The 1.6 dCi Euro 6 BiTurbo engine came in several variants when fitted to the Renault Trafic, usually these are 120 125 or 130 BHP, but all fitted with the same components. These engines respond extremely well to a stage 1 remap and no extra mods are required.

We have two remap options available for you, a low power map which is recommended for delivery vans, or the full power stage 1+ which can be driven harder and is best for personal use.

We’ve now got a ‘program at home’ option for the EDC17C84 ECU, supported by the MyGenius OBD Programmer unit. This device makes it super simple and safe to program the ECU yourself. The only additional equipment you’ll need is a battery charger/stabiliser.

Renault Trafic 1.6 dCi Mild Stage 1 remap (145 BHP | 340 Nm)

The Stage 1 remap gives a light boost in power making the van a lot nicer to drive day to day and much safer when over taking. The Stage 1 ECO map will also help save a little fuel during normal driving as there’s more low down torque, and when you need the extra power it’s there to use.

With 145 BHP it’s still a nice jump up in top end power, and the torque figure will increase to 340Nm which will definitely give a noticeable bump up in power.

Renault Trafic 1.6 dCi 120/130 Stage 1+ Remap (157 BHP | 358 Nm)

Thanks to the Bi Turbo setup on the Renault Traffic 1.6 dCi we can get great gains with just a simple remap, all without pushing the engine very hard at all.

With our Stage 1+ remap you’ll get an exciting 157BHP peak power and a strong torque figure of 358Nm. Although it would be possible to have more torque this would require a clutch upgrade, if you are interested in that then we can discuss further.

Our remaps are designed to be safe to use with the DPF filter and should give no increased risk of clogging. It’s always important to carry out regular services and to make sure that regular long journeys are undertaken with a diesel vehicle so that the DPF system can properly regenerate.

Programming Methods – OBD2 or bench programming

Only genuine tuning tools can program the EDC17C84 over OBD such as Autotuner, Kess3 and now you can also program this ECU type from home using Dimsport MyGenius.

Recommended programming method:

Program over OBD using the Dimsport MyGenius standalone tool

The Dimsport MyGenius tool is the safest, easiest and most reliable way to program your ECU from home. Simply connect to the OBD port and let the tool do the work, no need to remove your ECU or bench program for most ECU types. For more information have a read here

Programming via Bench service mode PCM Flash or any tools with bench service mode

This is our preferred way to program. The ECU must be removed, but there is no need to open the ECU and risk damage. A full backup can be made of both the EEPROM and the internal flash memories, also the external flash can be read on models where this is present.

  • Order a tool such as PCM Flash.
  • Remove ECU from the vehicle.
  • Connect specified wires to ECU plug connector.
  • ID the ECU.
  • Read the ECU memories.
  • Email software to HDI Tuning.
  • Wait for us to prepare your remap and return it back to you.
  • Program the remap to the ECU using the same method taken to read the ECU.
  • Refit the ECU, check engine starts.
  • Let your engine warm up and then take the car for a spin, enjoy the extra power!

Programming via OBD EDC17C84

  • Obtain a suitable programming tool. We recommend Dimsport MyGenius if you want to program over OBD.
  • Install the tool to a reliable laptop.
  • Connect to the OBD port of your car, make sure you have backup chargers to the vehicle battery and the laptop battery.
  • ID the ECU and then take a read of the ECUs flash memory.
  • Email the software to remap@hdi-tuning.co.uk along with a description of the remap you require.
  • Send payment through our webshop.
  • We will modify the software and send back to you. This normally takes less than 2 to 3 hours during working days.
  • Using the same tool, ID then write to the ECU. This will overwrite the ECUs flash memory, it’s important not to interrupt the process. If you encounter any problems we can fix the ECU for you so there’s absolutely nothing to worry about.
  • Let your engine warm up and then take the car for a spin, enjoy the extra power!
