300 Nm

Stage 1 Torque

If you’re thinking about remapping your Citroen C4 Cactus 1.6 BlueHDI, you’re in the right spot. At HDI Tuning, we offer the most progressive remaps for this specific engine and ECU model (Bosch EDC17C60). We’ve dedicated numerous hours to R&D to deliver a truly advanced remap. An HDI Tuning remap is not only powerful but also exceptionally dependable. Our remaps always stay within the safe parameters of the engine parts, the turbo charger, and the clutch.

The 75 BHP and the 100 BHP versions of the 1.6 Blue HDI come with the same turbo and injectors. This indicates that we can remap for added power without necessitating any upgrades to your vehicle, meaning the benefits of the 75 BHP engine match those of the 100BHP engine.

If you’re inclined to program the ECU on your own, the MyGenius OBD programmer is at your service. This device works via the OBD diagnostic port, eliminating the need to detach the ECU. You don’t require any advanced tools, but a battery charger or stabilizer should be connected during the ECU programming.

Citroen C4 Cactus 1.6 BlueHDI 75 – Stage 1 (126 BHP | 300 Nm)

Our Stage 1 remap for the Citroen C4 Cactus 1.6 BlueHDI 75 BHP yields 300Nm of torque, and a peak BHP of 126. This stage 1 remap offers consistent torque across the rev range, resulting in a vehicle that feels almost like a more potent version straight off the assembly line.
The AdBlue and DPF system remains unaffected by this remap, as we uphold stock air-fuel ratios to ensure a clean, soot-free burn. When we adjust the ECU, we adhere to the OEM torque modelling framework and never bypass the injection maps. This guarantees safe, reliable power without any adverse impacts on the DPF. Additionally, you might observe a slight uptick in fuel efficiency post the stage 1 remap.

Stage 3 (150 BHP | 320 Nm)

Our Stage 3 remap requires a turbo upgrade and will take your 75 BHP BlueHDI to 150BHP and a staggering 320Nm of torque. The stage 3 performance remap provides consistent smooth torque through the entire rev range and great top end power. The 120 BHP BlueHDI engine is fitted with an excellent fourth generation Garrett GTD1244VZ turbo from the factory, we simply need to fit this turbo and then the software is changed to take account of this. There is no need to change the injectors as these are the same on all 1.6 BlueHDI engines.

Stage 3 (185 BHP)

The Stage 3 remap uses a hybrid GTD12 turbo. The turbo needs an upgraded 49mm compressor wheel fitted and the compressor housing machined to match. The turbine side is unchanged, the thrust bearing should be upgraded to a 360 bearing to add strength.

This remap also requires an upgraded intercooler, ceramic paddle clutch (there is a LOT of torque) and a full 2.5 inch exhaust system.

Programming Methods – OBD2 or bench programming

Only genuine tuning tools can program the EDC17C60 over OBD such as Autotuner, Combiloader, and now we can also program this ECU type using Dimsport MyGenius.

Recommended programming method:

Program over OBD using the Dimsport MyGenius standalone tool

The Dimsport MyGenius tool is the safest, easiest and most reliable way to program your ECU from home. Simply connect to the OBD port and let the tool do the work, no need to remove your ECU or bench program for most ECU types. For more information have a read here

Programming via Bench service mode PCM Flash or any tools with bench service mode

This is our preferred way to program. The ECU must be removed, but there is no need to open the ECU and risk damage. A full backup can be made of both the EEPROM and the internal flash memories, also the external flash can be read on models where this is present.

  • Order a tool such as KTM bench or PCM Flash.
  • Remove ECU from the vehicle.
  • Connect specified wires to ECU plug connector.
  • ID the ECU.
  • Read the ECU memories.
  • Email software to HDI Tuning.
  • Wait for us to prepare your remap and return it back to you.
  • Program the remap to the ECU using the same method taken to read the ECU.
  • Refit the ECU, check engine starts.
  • Let your engine warm up and then take the car for a spin, enjoy the extra power!

Bench Programming via KTAG

  • Order a suitable tool such as Kess KTAG
  • Install the tool to a reliable laptop.
  • The ECU must be removed from the vehicle, and then the lid can be carefully pried open and removed. The best way to do this is with 1 small flat head screw driver, 1 medium, and one large. A heat gun will help soften the sealant. Always start at the end furthest from the flat bonded section of the lid. If you attempt to pry open this end you will damage the ECU. A video guide is available on youtube.
  • Connect necessary pins to ECU connector plug.
  • Connect boot pin to correct location. The processor is a TC1793.
  • ID the ECU.
  • Take a read of all memories present.
  • Email the software to remap@hdi-tuning.co.uk along with a description of the remap you require.
  • Send payment through our webshop.
  • We will modify the software and send back to you. This normally takes less than 2 to 3 hours during work days.
  • Using the same tool, ID then write to the ECU. This will overwrite the ECUs memory, it’s important not to interrupt the process. If you encounter any problems we can fix the ECU for you so there’s absolutely nothing to worry about, if you made a backup of all memories you’re extra safe in the event that something were to go wrong.
  • Straighten the lid on the ECU and seal with a little silicone.
  • Refit the ECU and start the engine.
  • Let your engine warm up and then take the car for a spin, enjoy the extra power!

Programming via OBD EDC17C60

  • Obtain a suitable programming tool. We recommend Dimsport MyGenius if you want to program over OBD.
  • Install the tool to a reliable laptop.
  • Connect to the OBD port of your car, make sure you have backup chargers to the vehicle battery and the laptop battery.
  • ID the ECU and then take a read of the ECUs flash memory.
  • Email the software to remap@hdi-tuning.co.uk along with a description of the remap you require.
